North Rocks man arrested over drug dealing

A North Rocks man has been arrested in a drugs investigation which included a property search in West Pennant Hills.

Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad detectives arrested two men following extensive investigations into the commercial supply of the manufactured drugs ‘ecstasy’ and ‘nexus’.

Detectives formed Strike Force Merchant in May this year to investigate a drug supply ring operating in Sydney.

That led to the seizure of 2.4 kilograms of ecstasy, 800g of Nexus and a .45 Ruger firearm during two search warrants at homes in West Pennant Hills and Beecroft on Tuesday 24 May 2012.

The drugs have an estimated potential street value of more than $375,000.

A man was arrested at Beecroft address and remains before the court. In June, a second man was arrested as he boarded a flight at Sydney Airport.

He also remains before the court.

Following further inquiries by Strike Force Merchant detectives, two men were arrested at their homes at Beecroft and North Rocks about 7.30am today, Thursday, July 5.

The 27-year-old Beecroft man and 26-year-old North Rocks man were taken to Hornsby police station and are assisting police with their inquiries.
