EVERYBODY knows that a bar and a beer garden can be found at the Castle Hill Tavern but what you might not expect is a delicious lunch menu at the bistro.
As we arrived our waitress Johanna, with a refreshing smile, seated us in our booth.
The setting was a laid-back atmosphere.
Sweet Home Alabama was playing in the background, the football showing on the television, and the sound of chirpy customers enjoying their Tuesday lunch.
The Thai beef salad had marinated beef strips, roasted cashew nuts and lettuce, all mixed together in a chilli lime fusion dressing to deliver a delectable starter.
From the char-grill, the scotch fillet was cooked to perfection, complemented with a side of chips and salad.
New manager David Madden said the $15 steaks were his favourite item on the menu.
For dessert we enjoyed a sticky date pudding in butterscotch sauce.
The warm pudding with a serve of ice cream caressed our tongues to end a delightful meal.
Mr Madden said everything was made fresh on site.
The bistro is open Monday to Sunday, 11am until 9pm.
