Entertainment in brief

Edge of your seat

On Thursday, the Pavilion Theatre raises the curtain on the Alfred Hitchcock thriller The 39 Steps.

Four actors, 30 characters and more plot twists create two hours of mayhem, as restless man-about-town Richard Hannay stumbles across a dastardly plot to smuggle secret military plans out of 1935 England.

"It's one of the most elaborate, intricate and challenging productions I've ever worked on," director Meredith Jacobs said.

"It's also hugely entertaining."

The 39 Steps is at The Pavilion Theatre on Doran Drive, Castle Hill Showground, Castle Hill, until August 18 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8.15pm and Sundays at 4.30pm.

Tickets are $25, $20 (concession). Bookings: paviliontheatre.org.au, or call 9634 2929.
