THREE women from Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association have been selected for Australia's under-21 squad.
Kristina Brice, Gabi Simpson and Alix McDermott were all selected in the final squad of 22 after impressing Australian coach Carol Byers at the under-21 National Netball Championships in Perth last week.
The talented trio will link up with their teammates for a training camp in the coming weeks and compete at a youth international series next month in Ballarat.
Australian Netball organisers said the series would be the first under-age international event of its kind outside of a world championship tournament.
Fresh from leading NSW to victory at the National Championships, team goal shooter Kristina Brice, said she was thrilled to be called up for her country and to be taking another major step in her career.
"It's a bit of a surprise when you first get selected," Brice said.
"I know most of the girls in the team though so that makes it a bit easier and you learn plenty from each other."
Brice said she planned to use the tournament as a springboard for further representative honours including a spot with either the Sydney Swifts or senior Australian Diamonds team.
The tournament gets under way on August 20 and features some of the best junior talent from around the world and leading netball nations England, New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa.
