Over the past two years a diverse range of musicians have spent a combined 61 weeks at the top of the Australian music charts, none more unique perhaps than the Wiggles and Hillsong.
The two musical icons have topped the charts consistently, giving The Hills Shire a strong representation among some of the world’s most popular artists.
HIllsong Live’s most recent album Cornerstone reached the number 2 position on the ARIA charts but is currently in position 19 on the selling list.
The Wiggles, have spent time in the charts with last year’s albumIt's Always Christmas With You and their June release, Surfer Jeff.
The Wiggles work from their recording studio in Bella Vista, where Hillsong Church is also based.
One of the original Wiggles cast members, yellow Wiggle Greg Page is from Dural.
Both The Wiggles and Hillsong will wait anxiously when ARIA Chart Awards, are relaunched on Friday, August 10, to see who takes out the coveted album, artist, music video and single of the year awards.
The media, industry will converge on Sydney’s The Ivy Sunroom next month for the awards.
This includes chart stalwarts such as Powderfinger, Guy Sebastian, AC/DC, Hilltop Hoods and Missy Higgins, alongside newer names such as Gotye, Reece Mastin, Karise Eden, The Temper Trap, Drapht and Bliss N Eso.
