The Australian national wheelchair basketball teams have both won gold medals at the Rollers and Gliders World Challenge, which was held last week at the State Sports Centre, Homebush.
Both Australian teams were undefeated throughout the tournament, with the Australian women's team (Gliders) hopefully now taking a psychological edge over long-time rivals Germany, on the eve of the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
The Germans had just recently defeated the Gliders in the Gold Medal playoff of the 2012 Paralympic World Cup but this latest series of victories has not only restored the balance between the two teams but hopefully given the Australia women an edge.
Australia and Germany had been joined in the women's division by China and Japan, with the former taking out third place.

The Australian men (Rollers) had four wins in total over Great Britain during the week, one in a warm-up game, two during the preliminary rounds and the last being in the Gold Medal playoff.
Those results are sure to have the Rollers (reigning Paralympic Gold Medal winners) highly favoured to retain their status as the World's number one men's wheelchair basketball team in London.
Japan was also represented in the men's division, finishing in third position.
