Polecats pounce for win
The Northwest Polecats bounced back to form in the NSW Tertiary Rugby League competition with a convincing 38-0 win over the Cumberland Beavers.
The round 15 encounter started off slow until the Polecats captain Todd Whilesmith crossed in the 10th minute.
Cumberland then muscling up in defence to keep the Polecats scoreless for the next 20 minutes, until Shannon Norford 10 minutes out from half-time.
Ryan Smith scored again for the Polecats to take a 16-0 lead at half-time.
The second half belonged solely to the Polecats, with tries coming in regular intervals, the first being Shane Brown in the 47th minute, then Kareem Emara 4 minutes later. Emara and Norford got their second tries for the day to help round an impressive Polecats victory.
Trophy stays in Pennant Hills
Pennant Hills Demons retained the Warren ‘‘Pops Quintrell Shield on the weekend with a solid 78 point win over the Sydney Hills Eagles.
Despite the big win the Demons started the game poorly and trailed their cross-town rivals by four points at quarter time.
Coach Yard expressed his displeasure at the first quarter performance and the second quarter saw a much better effort.
The Demons ball control and directional play was vastly improved after the break with the Demons turning their quarter time deficit into a 10 point lead at half-time.
In the second-half, the Demons kicked a further 10 goals to run out winner 15.17 (107) to 4.5 (29).
