RECENTLY there has been one team that's had the wood over the Parramatta Eels — and it's not not Melbourne, Brisbane or Canterbury.
It's the Sydney Roosters.
In the past three years the tri colours have held the edge over their western rivals with two crushing victories in 2010 and 2011.
Last year they stole a one-point victory after trailing for most of the game. The streak means players like Tim Mannah, who is approaching 100 NRL games, is yet to taste victory against the boys from Bondi. This Saturday's clash takes on extra significance as the Eels try to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.
"The Roosters beat us last year by one point so it'd be good to get one back on them," Eels veteran Reni Maitua said. "It'll be a tough contest — games against the Roosters always are."
Parramatta Eels v Sydney Roosters on Saturday, August 11, at Parramatta Stadium. Kick-off at 5.30pm.
