Athletics track star Michelle Jenneke has become a YouTube sensation with her pre-race dancing ritual.
The Cherrybrook Athletics Club hurdler shot to fame when footage of her warming up at last month’s World Junior Athletic Championships in Barcelona was uploaded on the internet.
She finished 5th at the Championships in the 100 metre hurdles but it was her warm-up technique which attracted attention and made her an internet sensation.
The clip has had 16 million YouTube hits in two weeks.

Since then she’s been approached for several major sponsorship deals and recently appeared in a Channel Nine promotional ad for The Farmer Wants a Wife.
The 19-year-old said she’s been inundated with media attention since the World Championships with journalists from Japan to Germany calling her for a comment.
Jenneke’s mother, Nicky, spoke to the News upon her return to Sydney today.
‘‘It’s all been a bit overwhelming with the media attention Michelle’s had,’’ Nicky said.
‘‘The video’s good in that it makes people smile, but Michelle would rather people focus on her athletics achievements.
‘‘People are focusing on this video when they should be congratulating Michelle on breaking an Oceania record, and her club teammate, Nicholas Hough, who won a silver medal at the championships.’’
