For the first time in five years, John Purchase Public School in Cherrybrook is holding a school fete.

On Sunday, August 31, the community is invited to enjoy laser wars, meet players from the Sydney Blue Sox baseball team and see who gets dunked in the dreaded dunk tank.

There will be activities for all ages to enjoy: dodgem cars, giant slide, inflatable jumping maze, zorb balls, cup and saucer ride as well a great variety of stalls, herbs and plants, jams and chutneys made by Martelli's Fruit Market, a card stall, jewellery and face painting.

Visit the international food court and celebrate the diverse cultures of Cherrybrook with nine food stalls.

Bid at the silent auction and buy tickets for the great raffle, which will be drawn at 3pm.

Principal Leonie Black said funds raised would go towards establishing a storybook garden to extend the school's library, as well as targeting technology upgrades and purchasing additional sport equipment.
