Wet weather did not deter fete goers from The Great Fete at Samuel Gilbert Public School on Sunday.
Fete organiser Karen Romano said you never expect a big turn-out on a rainy day, but in this case they were pleasantly surprised by the number of people that still came along.
She said it was a testament to the high quality stalls and attractions they continued to provide each year.
"Parking on the streets around the school was filled before the fete started, and the crowd remained steady throughout the day, peaking during the burst of afternoon sunshine,” she said.
The school's principal Andrew Bowmer said he was also impressed with the turnout, and the "positive spirit of fete goers".
“People seemed to appreciate that not only do we provide a great day out regardless of weather, but the fete is for a good cause – it’s the major school fundraiser – and that feel-good factor and community spirit just seemed to dominate the mood of the day,” Mr Bowmer said.
