On Saturday morning Hills played Belrose Eagles at Leichhardt Oval, in what was an important match, but unfortunately a second half burst by the home side lead to a 28-10 loss.
Early in the first half Hills put Belrose under plenty of pressure only to be held out time and time again.
Then Belrose ran 60 metres to score against the run of play and suddenly lead -0.
After some good play Bevan De Vries scored a try but conversion was missed.
Bad options and handling denied Hills despite having a number of good scoring chances.
Belrose took their opportunities and scored next to make it 12-4.
Just before halftime Hills replied with a try to Todd Sartor which was converted to make the score 12-10 at the break.
The second half started well for Hill with Belrose letting the ball go over the sideline from the kickoff and leading to attacking opportunities right away.
Hills were got held up over the line a couple of times but failed to make the most of the field position with bad kicks, failing to get repeat sets, kicking the ball over the dead ball line and giving them easy runs out of their end.
Hills had chances but some very bad options taken by some of our senior players ruined any chance of staying in the game.
When Belrose had a sniff they took it and put on three second half tries to win 28-10.
On Saturday afternoon Auburn Warriors beat Wentworthville Magpies, which nudged Hills down into ninth on the ladder due to points difference.
Hills play Cabramatta this Sunday and to make the semi-finals need a win and Auburn to be beaten by Mounties Rugby League Club.
