THE birthday cake (pictured) was cut on Monday but Castle Hill Library's 10th birthday celebrations are still going.

Then Hills mayor Michelle Byrne officially launched the celebrations with Baulkham Hills state MP David Elliott, saying there are plenty more birthday activities planned. They include:

■ Today (Thursday), 4pm-5pm: Enjoy story time with your dad, grandad or carer and make a special rocket picture frame. For ages five to 10. Cost: $5.

■ Tuesday, 1pm-2pm: Author, actor and scriptwriter Peter Docker presents an hour of storytelling and song. Cost: $7.50.

■ September 12, history talks: Pictorial history of Castle Hill with Pam Wilson, 10.30am; The Hills Remembers The Great War with Don Tait, 11.45am; and Researching your Ancestor's Land with Carole Riley, 1pm.

■ September 13, 9am-4pm and September 14, 10am-3pm: Orange Blossom Festival Pop-up Library, Main Street, Castle Hill.

"Even before this library was built, people told us they wanted more than just somewhere to borrow a book," Cr Byrne said.

"That is what we set out to achieve, and it's clear that we have created more than a library — we have created a destination, a meeting place, a space to study and learn and somewhere people can feel connected to their community."
