One man is dead and two are in a serious condition after the three walked into Liverpool Hospital with stab wounds on Monday night, police say.
A 24-year-old man died from stab wounds to his upper body shortly after arriving at the hospital at 9.30pm.
He had arrived at the hospital's emergency department with another man, aged 25, who also had stab wounds to his upper body.
The second man's injuries were initially listed as critical, but his condition improved to serious but stable.
Moments after the two men arrived, another injured man walked into the hospital with stab wounds to his upper body.
The 30-year-old remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Police believe the stabbings are linked due to the time frame and the similarity of their injuries. On Tuesday evening police said they had established a crime scene at a home in Ashcroft.
Inspector Greg Tetly said the three men were known to police and they knew each other.
Witnesses said the men's late-night arrival was "chaotic" and forced the hospital's emergency department "into lockdown".
"There was one sitting directly across from my room and he was just out of control, cursing, swearing and going off at the police," a woman at the hospital told the Nine Network on Tuesday.
Initial information led officers to nearby Bigge Park in Liverpool but no crime scene was established after a search of the area.
"We've done a line search down there and we couldn't locate anything to suggest there was a crime scene at that location," Inspector Tetly said.
Police have seized a number of items from the men, including a grey sedan.
