The Triple J Hottest 100 countdown on Australia Day has been going for more than two decades and has provided the soundtrack to many a backyard barbecue and pool party.
Each year, a fair share of tracks come along accompanied by a video that becomes etched into the minds of viewers.
Fairfax Media has compiled a list of 10 music videos from tracks that have featured in the countdown over the years.

- Gotye featuring Kimbra: Somebody That I Used To Know
The 2011 hit for Wally De Backer (aka Gotye) has been a YouTube sensation; the video has been viewed on his channel almost 600 million times. The video features Gotye and Kimbra painted by Adelaide-based artist Emma Hack, who is known for her work in body painting.
- Bjork: It’s Oh So Quiet
Polling at number five in the 1995 countdown, the Icelandic singer’s hit It’s Oh So Quiet was quite the pop sensation. Choreographed dancing, umbrellas and a delightfully breezy Bjork, what more could you ask for?
- The Cranberries: Zombie
The band's lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan, was dripping in gold in the video that accompanied the countdown's number one song in 1994.
- Powderfinger: My Happiness
A metal slinky was the star in Powderfinger’s chart topper My Happiness. The track won the countdown in 2000.
- Mark Ronson and The Business International featuring Boy George and Andrew Wyatt: Somebody To Love Me
Big hair, crazy outfits and a whole heap of fun was depicted in the video to this song. The clip was shot to appear as if it were compiled from a home video in the early '80s. The song placed at number 10 in the 2010 countdown.
- Silverchair: Freak
The video lived up to its name; a woman’s skin was rejuvenated from the sweat of the band members. Freak placed 13th in the 1997 countdown.
- OutKast: Hey Ya!
OutKast seemingly made Polariods cool again with the band's reference to the then-defunct photo medium in their hit Hey Ya! The single from their double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below placed second in the 2003 countdown.
- Franz Ferdinand: Take Me Out
The winning track from the 2004 countdown, Take Me Out, featured references to an early 20th century art movement, Dadaism.
- Florence + The Machine: Dog Days Are Over
A camera, a trip into the woods and a whole bunch of crazy activity. Oh, and there's even some glitter throwing, before Ke$ha made it popular. The track placed 10th in the 2009 countdown.
- Lana Del Ray: Video Games
Vintage footage, puffy lips and big hair were some of the features in the film clip to Video Games - the lead single from Lana's album Born To Die. The track placed sixth in the 2011 countdown.
