With its dramatic effect and convincing costumes, you could be forgiven for thinking this video was a movie remake of Humphrey B. Bear.
It was not, but what transpired was a special treat for the visitors of the Tama Zoo on the western outskirts of Tokyo.
The zoo staged an escaped-animal drill with a staff member dressed as the escaped beast, in this case, a snow leopard.
The drill came with the full works – a dramatisation of the escape, zoo workers aiming tranquilliser darts at the "leopard" and even a pretend attack on a worker.
The International Business Times reported the zoo saying it designed the drill to simulate animals escaping after an earthquake.
"We focused on making this drill as realistic as possible," Tama zoological park director Yutaka Fukada told the IB Times. "One of our staff being knocked down, injured and then being knocked unconscious and going into cardiac arrest was a part of that."
While the leopard performer, Toshiya Nomura, said he did his best to be "scary", children watching the drill scoffed at the performance.
"He's not scary at all, but chasing him down the hill must have been quite a bit of work," three-year-old Sora Ichikawa said.
Equally unconvincing were the flimsy nets the workers held up to take down the "escaped leopard".
However, acting awards should be considered for the worker who faked being attacked.
His tumble to the ground looked as convincing as his co-worker's subsequent CPR administration.
No Japanese zoo drill would be complete without a group photo of the 70 staff members, police and local emergency workers, who took part in the exercise, a fitting end to an annual event for Tama Zoo.
Tokyo's Tama and Ueno zoos take turns to stage these drills every February.
Visitors looking forward to next year's exercise would be delighted to know that in previous drills, employees have dressed up as gorillas, rhinoceroses and even two-men zebras.
