Seven Paralympians from The Hills, Parramatta and Blacktown will join 4000 athletes from 162 countries tomorrow for the Paralympic opening ceremony in London.
The 161-strong Australian team will march around the Olympic Stadium in an athletes' parade with the lighting of the Paralympic Cauldron to follow the procession.
Film director Stephen Daldry, who directed the award-winning musical Billy Elliot, has organised the ceremony which will include a cast of 3000 volunteers and actors.
The opening ceremony has a theme of ‘‘Enlightenment’’ and is designed to celebrate the inclusivity of the Paralympics.
Coverage starts on ABC1 from 5am and runs until 8.30am.
Western Sydney cycling duo Simone Kennedy and Jayme Paris start their campaigns the next day on Friday in the C3-3km individual pursuit and C1-2-3 500m time trial respectively.
