Baulkham Hills Netball Association duo Lauren Mellenbergh and Samantha Poolman have been named in the NSW Waratahs squad for two upcoming Australian Netball League (ANL) games.
The 13-member Waratah team will face the Northern Territory Storm on Saturday, before a NSW derby meeting with the NSW Blues on Wednesday, September 5.
Head coach Sue Hawkins said her defending Waratahs premiership team would approach their round five fixtures ‘‘a little differently’’.
“Northern Territory Storm stayed with the Western Sting in their match last weekend, so we really can’t underestimate what they can bring to the court,’ Hawkins said.
“I watched them last weekend in Darwin and have monitored their performances over the season.
‘‘They just keep getting better and better . We can’t let them get a sniff on Saturday.’’
In preparing for the NSW Derby against the developing NSW Blues team, Hawkins said their approach would be a little bittersweet.
“Although we will be looking for the win, I want our match to bring out the best in NSW Waratahs and also for NSW Blues,” Hawkins said.
With the final round robin leg fast approaching, Hawkins said NSW Waratahs were focussed and ready to defend their Champions title.
“We are building up to the business end of the ANL competition and consolidating our combinations across the court,” Hawkins said.
The NSW Waratahs are currently five wins from five matches for the ANL season and are in a good position to qualify for the finals on September 14 to 15.
