Two fire trucks were called to Bella Vista today when a grass fire broke out behind the Totally Home shopping centre.
The fire broke out at 11.45am on a small bushland section of private land.
Bella Vista resident Arthur Moreno, who lives on Waterstone Crescent, said he was worried for the safety of his home when he saw plumes of smoke coming towards his property.
‘‘I was out in the backyard with my dog and the smoke kept getting thicker,’’ Mr Moreno said.
‘‘Shortly after that I decided to come down closer to the fire to whether I’d have to evacuate.’’
Mr Moreno was one of the first on the scene and arrived 15 minutes before fire crews.
‘‘The fire is mainly grass based which tends to give off more smoke,’’ he said.
Fire and Rescue NSW confirmed it was a grass fire on the corner of Celebration and Lexington drives.
"There's two crews on-site from Northmead and Schofields," Operator for Fire Rescue NSW, Darren Pearson said.
"The crews arrived seven minutes apart, at 12.02pm and 12.09pm."
