Sporting groups will come a step closer to getting their field of dreams at Beaumont Hills, when the Sydney West Region Joint Planning Panel meets this Friday, to discuss the future of Caddies Creek Reserve.
The panel’s public determination meeting is scheduled for 3pm in The Hills Council chambers.
The panel decides on developments over $10 million. This project has a listed capital investment value of $12 million.
It is for construction of a baseball field, a multi-purpose football field, two multi-purpose football and fields co-located with a cricket field at 413 Millcroft Way, Beaumont Hills.
Rouse Hill Wildcats Baseball Club has been pitching since October 2014 to ‘‘steal’’ the proposed baseball field.
‘‘We’ve been told it’s all systems go,’’ past vice-president, Lee Barone, said.
‘‘We seem to be increasing by three to four teams every year.
‘‘Last summer we actually had to stop the intake because we also don’t have enough qualified coaches.’’
The 15-year-old club trains and competes at The Hills Centenary Park Reserve year-round.
The Caddies Creek Reserve proposal also includes two amenities buildings, two car parks, access roads, subsurface drainage, collection and storage of water from the playing fields for irrigation and the lighting of playing fields.
The Hills Council received 32 submissions in relation to the development application. The most common issue raised was the impact of traffic, particularly on Millcroft Way residents, which it addresses in an assessment report provided to the panel.
The report says the sporting fields will generally operate 8am to 5pm on weekends and until 9.30pm on weeknights for training, with flood lighting to be turned off automatically at 9.30pm.
The proposed playing fields have been designed to provide protection against flooding in the one-in-two-year average storm event, the report says, with the exception of the football field which has been designed to allow more frequent inundation.
The playing fields will act as stormwater detention during flood events, with the baseball field the only field to be fenced.

The council allocated $935,015 in the 2014-15 financial year for GHD Pty Ltd to complete the design resolution, approval and construction documentation for the project.
The Joint Regional Planning Panel will on Friday also discuss a section 96(2) modification to approved residential flat building development at 28 Fairway Drive, Kellyville.
The proposal includes the construction of a fifth level on building 5, comprising of an additional 10 units and internal reconfigurations of some units including changes to mix and sizes.
Amendments to roof pitch, materials, finishes and façade design are also proposed.
This project has a capital investment value of $27.2 million.
