THE kidney-shaped pool of yesteryear is well and truly out of style as custom designs make a splash all over Sydney.
Crystal Pools sales and marketing manager Andrew Rothery said custom-designed concrete pools complement the trend for outdoor living.
"The kidney-shaped pool has gone out of style as backyards have become smaller and space is at a premium," he said. "These older shapes take up more room than the formal styles today."
"Our clients tend to opt for the design of a more formal shaped pool to integrate with their formal outdoor alfresco areas."
Mr Rothery said people are opting for smaller pools like plunge pools and lap pools or smaller family pools that are either square or rectangular.
"These types of pools suit the smaller backyards and fit within our clients' landscape ideas better than the large pools we used to build," he said.
"Also these type of pools deliver ease of maintenance and operating efficiency for our busy clients."
Crystal Pools has been serving the Sydney area for almost 60 years.
"No one can build the structure of a pool like Crystal Pools, and the company sets the benchmark for quality as our pools are crafted by the best concreters, steel fixers, form workers and plumbers in the business," Mr Rothery said.
"A concrete pool will be custom designed to suit your needs and to fit in with the landscaped area you require," he said.
"Steps, ledges, alcoves and features will be placed where you want them."
