Hills school holiday fun


■ Today: Kids Day Spring Carnivale features open time in the gymnastics centre with parents/carers (10am-noon, 1.30pm-3.30pm); a kids show in the courtyard cafe (11am-11.45am, 1pm-1.45pm); and demonstration kindergym for 4-5 year olds (12.15pm-1pm). There will also be all-day face painting and a clown.

■ Until Friday: To celebrate the National Year of Reading, Wake Up and Read is a family-friendly show about Frank and his book of magic tricks. Incorporates music, rap, drama, mime, puppetry, magic and circus skills. All ages, 11am for 50 minutes.

■ Until Friday and October 2-5: Make your own insect superheroes, (10am-4pm); make a seasonal clock with moving hand (10am-4pm, ages 3-plus); take the magic garden quiz to spin the wheel for a prize (1pm-2pm, all ages); from 10am-4pm, colour-in a sunny park and pond scene to maybe win a prize in three age groups: 4 and under, 5-7, 8-12. Cost: $2 per child; take self-discovery trails through the centre, 10am-4pm.
