Turnbull launches Opposition’s broadband survey

Opposition spokesman for communication Malcolm Turnbull launched the Coalition’s nationwide broadband survey at Norwest Business Park today.

Mr Turnbull met with the Sydney Hills Business Chamber to discuss the rollout of the government’s national broadband network (NBN) into the business park and how it will impact the Hills region.

The current NBN rollout, which has so far reached just 54,000 of the expected 511,000 households promised by next June, is not expected to reach the Norwest Business Park until 2020.

Sydney Hills Business Chamber chairman Tony Eades said many members struggled with slow or inconsistent internet speeds which impacted on local business productivity.

Last month the Sydney Hills Chamber held the Hills Business Summit which spoke out against the current internet service for the Norwest area which ‘‘doesn’t meet the needs of today’’.
