O’Connor has no plans to return to Parramatta

Wallabies star James O’Connor has ruled out a return to Sydney and Parramatta — the town that helped nurture his development.

The Australian Rugby Union player told the Hills News he was happy in Melbourne and a move to a Sydney-based team was unlikely.

‘‘I came down here when I was 13 or 14 and was a junior Parramatta rugby league player,’’ he said.

‘‘Rod Reddy sort of spotted me and I was pretty close to signing with Parramatta.

‘‘The choice was between them and the Western Force.

‘‘I have a year left on my contract and obviously things happen with negotiations but it’s an awesome place and we are building something.

‘‘I’m happy in Melbourne and I call it home.’’

The 22-year-old has recovered from a back injury and has put his hand up for selection in the Wallabies’ next match against the All Blacks in Brisbane.
