Youth sought for state advisory council

Applications for the 2013 NSW Youth Advisory Council are now open.

The council advises the NSW government on policies and programs that affect young people.

A dozen people aged between 12 and 25 make up the council.

Education Minister Adrian Piccoli stressed the importance of the council.

‘‘Make no mistake, the youth advisory council plays an important role in guiding NSW government youth affairs and raising the views of young people,’’ he said.

‘‘Every year hundreds of young people across the state apply to join the youth council.

‘‘Candidates with strong links to their community, experience in committees and with a dedication to youth issues are highly sought after.’’
