POWERHOUSE DISCOVERY CENTRE, CASTLE HILL

■ Today, Friday: Work in teams of three to build robots. Program them to move, dance and conquer obstacle courses using touch and light sensors. Ages 8-12. Cost: $70/$65 Powerhouse members. Bookings essential.

■ Tuesday to Friday: Make your own insect superheroes, complete with superhero cape wings and hero's emblem (10am-4pm, ages 3-plus); make a seasonal clock with moving hands (10am-4pm, ages 3-plus); answer questions correctly in the magic garden quiz to spin the wheel for a prize (1pm-2pm, all ages); from 10am-4pm, colour-in a sunny park and pond scene to maybe win a prize in three age groups: 4 and under, 5-7, 8-12. Cost: $2 a child; visitors can also take self-discovery trails through the centre, 10am-4pm.

■ Wednesday or Thursday: Work in teams to build houses, castles and towers of strength using Lego, 10am-3pm. Ages 6-8. Cost: $60/$55 Powerhouse members. Bookings essential.

■ Today, Wednesday and Friday: Learn how to make objects vanish and reappear and float in the air and discover the secrets behind card tricks with magician Jonas Jost, 12.30pm-1.30pm. Ages 6-12. Cost: $20/$16 Powerhouse members, includes a magic trick to take home. Bookings essential.

■ Until Friday: Magician Jonas Jost performs at 11am.

ROUSE HILL HOUSE AND FARM

Founded in 1813 and crammed with 20,000 objects spanning its long life, Rouse Hill House and Farm is at 356 Annangrove Road, Rouse Hill. Access by tour only.

■ Wednesday and Friday: Miss Manners will teach kids aged 7-12 the 19th century arts of introduction, conversation and dining etiquette, 10am-11.30am. Visitors will also play a "civilised" game of cards. Cost: $12, includes a booklet to take home. Bookings essential: 9627 6777.
