BAULKHAM Hills netballer Samantha May has gained a recall to the NSW Swifts for their upcoming ANZ Championship season starting in March.
The 25-year-old will start pre-season training with the Swifts in November and is confident she can make an big impact in her second stint at the club.
"I was re-selected after having a big season for my club team Baulkham Hills Netball Association," May said.
"The re-call came about because I concentrated hard on the areas of my game I needed to improve on."
In the off-season, May put in the hard yards to improve her fitness and intensity which was noticed by the Swifts coaching staff and rewarded with a new contract.
May told the News she was looking to repay the faith shown in her and help push the Swifts team towards their first championship since 2006.
"To win the championship we'll have to evolve and improve as a team," May said.
"Personally I'm looking to get more game time and help the team by restricting the number of goals at either wing defence or goal defence."
Head coach Lisa Beehag completed her squad selections last week with a 12-member team.
May is expected to challenge fellow defensive players Sonia Mkoloma, April Letton and Jo Sutton for a starting position.
"Hopefully if I continue to do the little things right the coach will pick me," May said.
"It's small things like applying extra pressure to your opponent and keeping your mental intensity which will get me more game time."
