FROM Newcastle to Orange to Wagga Wagga, Elmo, Big Bird and the Cookie Monster will be taking a road trip around NSW this month — but why?
All in the name of charity, of course.
Dads Peter Poulos, Robert Thompson and Darren Adams are the men behind the costumes and will be driving more than 3000 kilometres in a week to raise money for the children's cancer charity, Camp Quality.
"I have two young girls who are healthy and didn't have to attend Camp Quality, and I am very grateful," Mr Poulos, of Bella Vista, said.
"Rob knew a family whose child passed away from cancer and Camp Quality supported them and put a smile on the child's face in the last few months of their life.
"It would be nice to give something back."
The Sesame Street characters will be visiting schools alongside the Camp Quality puppets who educate children about living with cancer, so they can be more understanding of their peers who may have cancer.
The trio will be driving a 1964 EH Holden.
"We had to push it out of the trailer when it arrived," Mr Thompson said.
The car is unrecognisable from the vintage vehicle originally advertised online.
The dads hope to add to the $30,000 they've already raised.
