Two weeks before her 50th birthday, it has been revealed that Janet Jackson is pregnant for the first time.
US website ET sources have confirmed the news, which comes one month after Jackson postponed her world tour so that she could start a family.
"We're in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change," Jackson explained in a video posted to Twitter on April 6. "I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour."
Jackson also asked for the support of her fans.
"Please, if you could try and understand that it's important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor's orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can."

Jackson married Qatari retailing tycoon Wissam Al Mana, 41, in a private ceremony in 2012.
She did not confirm the news until the following year.
"Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favourite children's charities.'
It is the singer's third marriage.
In 2008, she spoke about her longing to have children with then boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. "I would love to have children of our own, but we also would love to adopt," she said. "So, we'll see what happens. It'll happen someday."
Jackson is yet to publicly confirm the news.
