Hugh Jackman and The Wolverine cast and crew will roar into Parramatta this weekend.
George Street and Smith Street will be transformed into a Japanese streetscape for the filming.
Parramatta Lord Mayor John Chedid said he was proud Parramatta would host its first major feature film.
‘‘I’m excited and proud Parramatta has been chosen as a stage for The Wolverine,’’ he said.
‘‘It reflects the city’s quickly growing appeal as a leading filming destination and having this high profile movie filmed here will only enhance this further.
‘‘We’ve already had some success with production companies choosing to make blockbusters like The Wolverine and TV shows including East West 101 and Crownies in Parramatta.
Residents and visitors to the City are advised to allow for extra travel time if visiting Parramatta on the weekend.
The production has created almost 2000 jobs for cast, crew and extras.
It is expected more than $80 million will be spent in NSW during production.
