The Hills Brumbies’ star striker Peter Cejka has had a season to remember.
His 32 goals won the National Premier Leagues (NPL) 3 NSW competition’s golden boot award by 11 goals, as well as taking home the player of the year award.
Alongside the personal accolades, Cejka was an important part of first grade’s runaway minor premiership and the club’s promotion to NPL 2 NSW in 2017.
Cejka said it had been a fantastic season for the Brumbies as a club.
“At the start of the season, the goal was to gain promotion into the Premier Leagues 2,” he said.
“I’m just glad that I could help the guys out.”
The 2016 season was the striker’s first season back at the club, after taking “four or five seasons off”.
“Any striker will tell you the best feeling in the world is scoring a goal,” Cejka said.
“To do that so many times throughout the season, I enjoyed every minute of it.”
With the NPL 3 NSW grand final this weekend and promotion to NPL 2 guaranteed for 2017, Cejka said it was an exciting time for the club.
“It’s going to be a better competition, better opposition we’re playing against,” he said.
“The boys are looking forward to testing themselves.”
The Hills Brumbies feature in two grand finals at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday, with the under 20’s playing Dunbar Rovers FC at 1pm and first grade taking on Rydalmere Lions FC at 4pm.
