Bicycle and bus lanes have been closed on the Hills M2 to make way for NorthConnex construction.

The bicycle lane going eastbound between Windsor Road and Pennant Hills Road was closed on September 19 and will remain unavailable for 24 months, the NSW government has confirmed.

It follows the closure of another bicycle lane which travels westbound between Pennant Hills Road and Windsor Road in February this year.

A detour for cyclists has been created by NorthConnex via Northmead Avenue, Kleins Road, Moxhams Road and Model Farms Road.

NorthConnex is a nine kilometre tunnel which will link the M1 to the Hills M2 motorway at West Pennant Hills.

In August, approval was also granted for day time lane closures on the M1 Pacific Motorway in Wahroonga, north of Alexandria Avenue.
