Police target speeding drivers in Kellyville

Caught speeding

A South Windsor man was caught driving 96km/h over the speed limit in Kellyville on Friday.

Police said the man, 25, was driving at 176km/h in a 80km/h speed zone on Green Road.

After a short chase police pulled the car over near Schofields Road and confiscated the man’s licence on the spot.

He was then breath-tested and blew a mid-range blood alcohol reading of 0.099.

The man was charged with speeding over 45km/h and mid-range drink driving.

He will face Parramatta Local Court on November 19.

Motorcyclist fined

A Rouse Hill man was fined $2154 on October 15 for driving 66km/h over the speed limit on Green Road, Kellyville.

The motorcyclist was spotted doing 126km/h in a 60km/h speed zone at 12.55pm and sped off from police who were stuck in heavy traffic.

Police took the registration plate number and attended the 19-year-old’s house the next day.

He had his licence suspended and registration plates confiscated.

Bikes stolen

Police are investigating the theft of two mountain bikes stolen in The Hills this week.

Police said on Tuesday, a Giant mountain bike valued at $400 was stolen from a front yard on Manuka Avenue, Baulkham Hills.

Another bike was taken in similar circumstances on Wednesday from a front yard in Java Place, Beaumont Hills.

Police believe the two incidents are unrelated but are warning residents to be mindful of opportunistic thieves.

Taken from car

Thieves stole $2000 worth electronics and clothing on Wednesday after breaking into a car on Cross Street, Baulkham Hills.

Police said the window of a Toyota Rav 4 was smashed some time between 8pm and 5am.

Several items were taken including an iPad, iPod, prescription sunglasses and a gym bag.

Police said the car’s log books and registration papers were also taken.

Knife found

Castle Hill police uncovered a flick knife in Castle Hill on Wednesday after stopping a car on Castle Street.

A Galston man, 18, was pulled over after his passenger shouted out and gestured at police walking nearby.

An inspection of the vehicle found a flick knife in the car’s glove box and several defects including four bald tyres.

He is expected to be charged after further inquiries.
