Norwest FC enjoyed a massive 2016 and the club already has the ball rolling towards a successful season this year.
The club has attracted new sponsors ahead of the new Hills Football Association season – the first since the association was ratified by Football NSW.
President Trevor Halligan told the News that the club has more than 30 teams ready to go for season 2017, after substantial growth last year.
“If anything we’re a bit top heavy. We have lots of sides in the all age and older grades, so we’d like to get a few more kids coming into the club,” he said.
“We want success and enjoyment this year. Hopefully we can keep spreading the word about the club in the community.”
Norwest joined the Hills association last year and its player base quickly grew by more than 250 per cent.
The club will also have added financial power this year, thanks to the support of local businesses Meridian Homes and Cleaver Strata Consulting.
Brendan Cleaver, who has children playing at the club, said it was an exciting time to be involved with Norwest.
“It’s been amazing to watch the club grow over the past few years,” he said.
“People from other areas of Sydney have heard of us now. That wasn’t the case two years ago. It shows that we are building a good reputation.”
