Decorating a young child’s bedroom can pose a challenge for parents, especially when safety is of a concern.
One major safety concern relates to the use of bunk beds in Australian households, with incidents of younger children falling off and becoming injured.
According to Monash University, Victorian injury surveillance data reveals 86 per cent of bunk bed related injuries mostly occurred to children who were ten-years-old and younger, out of children aged up to 15-years-old.
While bunk beds can be a great option for saving space, some can pose a safety risk when they don’t have the right safety features.
For parents that are considering a bunk bed for their child’s bedroom, Laura Eva, visual merchandising manager from Focus on Furniture advises to check if the bunk bed has product certification and meets safety standards.
“All our bunk beds come with a Furntech- AFRDI Certificate of Compliance,” Ms Eva said.
Focus on Furniture has a range of bunk beds designed for better safety and ideal for younger children.
An example of a safe bunk bed is Focus on Furniture’s Bonnie Bunk Bed, which features a built-in open shelf storage to eliminate clutter and a high safety rail on top to keep little ones safe (RRP $1199).
Or for less, there is Focus on Furniture’s sleek streamlined design with the Ned Bunk Bed (RRP $599).
