COUNCILLORS, local politicians and community leaders have paid tribute to Dave Walker, who resigned from his job as The Hills Council general manager last week.

Mr Walker was initially appointed interim general manager in 2004, before being formally appointed in 2005.

He served the council for 20 years, working as the director of corporate service before being promoted.

Mr Walker has been credited for helping the council develop into one of the strongest councils in NSW.

Mayor Yvonne Keane thanked Mr Walker during last Tuesday’s council meeting, which was his last meeting to oversee before leaving the council last Thursday.

“He has delivered, in my opinion, The Hills into the most extraordinary position and given us a superb platform for the future,” Cr Keane said.

“He is a passionate member of The Hills community and well respected by his colleagues, staff and peers in local government, as well as the wider community.”

Former councillor and Castle Hill MP Ray Williams addressed the council during the farewell presentation.

“Dave is one of the most genuine and honest person I have met. We elected him in 2005 and it is a decision we have never regretted,” Mr Williams said.

“Thank you for everything you have done for our shire.”

Baulkham Hills MP David Elliott and Hills SES leader Evelyn Lester was among the gallery at the presentation.

Councillors from both sides of the chamber also thanked Mr Walker.
