Berowra MP Julian Leeser officially opened the refurbished Arcadia Playgroup Shed over the weekend.

Arcadia Playgroup was founded in 2013 by Karen Prentice. She was joined by parents Farah, Jo and Dale who became joint playgroup co-ordinators in 2016.

More than 25 kids have attended the playgroup over the past 12 months.

But the storage and facility options needed work. Last year the playgroup received a $2000 Volunteers Grant through the government's grant scheme.

This money was earmarked for storage units, storage tubs, tea and coffee making facilities, a breastfeeding chair and other items.

Arcadia Public School’s P&C Association agreed to fund a renovation project of the existing shed, led by president Pete Jones and vice-president Trent Dawson, with the support of school principal Sharon O’Brien.

Mr Dawson, and his company Dawson Electrical, was joined by school dads Michael Carn from Empire Bathrooms, Fedi Abood of Abood Excavations, and Geoff Lister of Arcadia Painting, to complete the project in three weeks at cost price only.

Mr Leeser attended the Arcadia Markets on the weekend to see the finished project.

“This renovation is just another example of the strength of the community spirit in Arcadia and right across the Hills and Hornsby shires,”  he said.
