The East Coast Eagles will be well represented in the AFL NSW/ACT representative game this season.
Eight Eagles players and two coaches will be part of the squad to take on the Black Diamond AFL League team on Saturday, May 20.
Last year’s premiership-winning Eagles coach Michael Sankey was named coach of the side.
“It’s a great opportunity to be able to work with some of the best players in the league,” he said.
“You don’t always get access to those guys and there is a big difference between coaching against them and coaching them.”
Sankey stepped down as Eagles head coach at the beginning of this season after being involved with the club for the past decade including four years as coach.
“It’s a great reflection of the program the club has been running over the last few years and a great reflection of the playing group the Eagles do have,” he said.
“Not every club will show the same commitment towards representative football but the Eagles have shown they’re quite committed to the program.”
The Eagles were also represented in the women’s squad with captain Sarah Ford selected.
The Eagles selected are: Andrew Browning, Bailey Stewart, Ben Bourke, Dean Costello, Eugene Kruger, Kieran Emery, Mark Weekes, Stuart Turner (players), Michael Sankey and Andrew Turner (coaches).
