One of our biggest canine companions will be celebrated this Sunday.
All dog lovers are encouraged to come along to the Great Dane Club of NSW fun day.
“We are expecting a great turn out from both Great Dane owners as well as non Great Dane owners,” organiser Louise Herbert said.
The day will feature games and activities including a dog and owner egg and spoon race, three-legged race, sack race, raffles and food stalls.
All activities need a gold coin donation to enter. Experts will offer grooming and training tips.
“The event is supporting Great Dane Rescue and our club, so we would love as many people as possible to join us,” Ms Herbert said.
“I think the best part is the end of the day with the fancy dress competition where owners dress themselves and their dogs up for a ‘Fabulous Parade’.
“We’ve had some great some costumes such people putting saddles on their Great Danes and dressing as jockeys, and painting the dogs with hairspray to look like tigers.”
All dog lovers and owners are invited to join the festivities.
Ms Herbert said the event would focus on educating people about owning Great Danes, promoting ethical breeding and supporting the rescue service.
“It’s about bringing all dog owners in the community together,” Ms Herbert said.
“We will have a behaviourist and trainer on hand on the day.”
Ms Herbert stressed canine companions, owners and dog lovers shouldn’t be worried about the weather forecast with the fun day held in an covered enclosure.
