The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) will kick off its winter holiday program, NIDA Open, at Kellyville next month.
The program, which runs from July 29 to September 6, will include improvisation and performance craft, voice and movement, contemporary performance, script work and staging, available to pupils in grades 3 to 6.
“NIDA Open is where young adults come to start or continue their journey in the performing arts,” head of NIDA Open, Tricia Ryan, said.
“It’s where young children come to develop and discover their creativity, and where young and emerging artists can hone their creativity.
“Creative development can be integral, not only to a career in the arts, but to education and personal growth. NIDA Open courses can also help develop inner confidence, facilitate creative exploration and unleash the inner artist.”
Ms Ryan said with growing evidence to support the positive impact drama can have on children and adults from all backgrounds, young people don’t have to be looking for a career in the arts to benefit from what’s on offer.
“They can benefit academically and socially, and find new interests or improve existing ones to set them on the right path,” she said.
