The Pennant Hills Demons division one women’s team have shown they are true premiership contenders for the 2017 season after defeating the East Coast Eagles 118-20 on Saturday, August 5.

The two teams sat on nine wins for the season heading into Saturday’s game before the Demons went on to secure the fourth place spot with two rounds to go.

Demons head coach Daniel Fiedler said he couldn’t believe his team’s performance on the weekend.

“We scored 18 goals and came out and beat a team by nearly 100 that a month ago we beat by 30,” he said.

“The girls are really showing how much they want it and I really do think we are true premiership contenders now.”

The win was the second of two strong performances in the last two weeks for the Demons who lost to first-placed Manly Warringah Wolves 33-4 on Saturday, July 29.

“This weekend should see us take it to North Shore and really cement our finals place,” Fiedler said.

Charlotte Owen was named best on field for the Demons for the first time this season, kicking three goals for the game.

Following a best on field against Manly last weekend, Lauren Dowle had another big game for the Demons kicking three goals from full forward making her total for the season 10.

Including Dowle and Owen, Ellie Jones, Laura Donohoe, Jessie Wood and Emily Guff were named in the best six.

Finals begin on Saturday, August 26 and will include the top six teams.
