Aaron Mooy's journey from being shown the door at Western Sydney Wanderers to the starting in the Premier League has reached a dream culmination, with the Aussie midfielder scoring his first EPL goal for Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
With Huddersfield locked 0-0 with Newcastle in their first home game in the EPL, Mooy played a neat one-two with Elias Kachunga before unleashing a curling effort just inside the right upright, giving the visiting goalkeeper Rob Elliot no chance.
The score remained 1-0, handing the Terriers their second straight win to retain equal first on the ladder.
Newcastle, who also won promotion from the Championship last season, should have equalised in the 68th minute but Ayoze Perez wasted a chance from close range.
There was a buzz of anticipation around the John Smith's Stadium as Huddersfield, three times champions in the 1920s, prepared to welcome England's elite once more.

A move to Melbourne City catapulted him to stardom, and he formed a lethal combination with striker Bruno Fornaroli before heading to City's parent club in Manchester and being loaned out to Huddersfield.

After a successful 2016-17 in which he helped the second division team gain promotion, he secured a permanent move to the Yorkshire club.
Mooy joins an elusive group of just 16 Australians who have scored in England's top flight since it became the Premier League, including Mark Viduka, Tim Cahill and, most recently, Mile Jedinak.
