Pedestrian and cycleway bridge open at Kellyville

Former mayor of The Hills Yvonne Keane officially opened the bridge between Strathfillan Way and Georgia Terrace in Kellyville on September 8. The shared pedestrian and cycle bridge will provide an important local link for residents and is part of a bigger cycleway network between Castle Hill and Rouse Hill. Construction took more than two months to complete. It spans more than nine metres over unnamed tributary of Cattai Creek providing protection to the creekline and native wildlife and vegetation.

This vital piece of infrastructure is one of a number of important projects the council is currently working on, including a new playground at Twickenham Avenue Reserve and sporting fields at Caddies Creek Reserve.

The bridge is made-up of galvanised steel and glass fibre with reinforced polymer decking, and was designed and constructed by Fleetwood Urban Pty Ltd.

“This new bridge will allow avid walkers and cyclists to explore our wonderful natural environment,” Cr Keane said.  “It will also allow easy access to other parts of our beautiful Shire, while promoting active travel. The Hills Council is committed to investing in important infrastructure to make it easier and safer for our residents.”
