Dural Country Club have celebrated 50 years of bowls, unveiling a commemorative plaque of the achievement at the front of the club.

Judith Harris was the women’s club president during the club’s 50th anniversary in 2016 with the plaque unveiling capping off a year of celebrations for the club.

Mrs Harris, who has been involved in the club for over 20 years, said a lot has changed over the years.

“I don’t suppose it makes a difference as to how an individual member feels but just to know it’s been around and started from nothing,” she said.

“It was great to be part of the 50th with everyone coming back and the state people came out and gave us a nod.”

Last years’ men’s club president Gordon Scoble said the year was “very well celebrated” with a series of events.

Mrs Harris hopes that people will come back to bowls clubs with participation numbers in clubs declining and the sport facing a challenging time.
