Three men attack M2 road worker at West Pennant Hills

A road worker was hit in the face with a glass bottle during an alleged assault after he tried to stop three men kicking and throwing traffic cones on the M2 at West Pennant Hills.

A man, 27, was working on the M2 when he noticed the men with the traffic cones at about 1am this morning (Thursday, October 19).

It’s alleged that when he shouted at them to stop, the men approached the worker and began assaulting him, with one of the men hitting his face with a glass bottle.

The road worker’s colleagues intervened and used a traffic pole to fend the attackers off.

The offenders ran off, with two of the men arrested by Castle Hill police.

They were taken to hospital under police guard.

One of the men, 21, suffered an ankle injury, while the second man, 19, suffered a cut to the head.

Checks revealed both men had outstanding warrants for previous offences.

The third man, 33, was arrested after returning to the scene about an hour later.

He has since been charged with six offences relating to the incident.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday).

The younger man, 21, has been released from hospital and is at Castle Hill police station where charges are expected.

The road worker was taken to Ryde Hospital with non-life threatening head injuries.
