Cash boost for Wesley Mission's Hills Family Centre

Wesley Mission’s Hills Family Centre in Bella Vista will employ two new financial councillors for The Hills area after receiving a $337,668 government grant.

The announcement was made last week by Minister for Fair Trading Anthony Roberts.

Mr Roberts said the grant would help the charitable organisation reach people most in need of financial guidance and assistance.

‘‘People in The Hills are doing it tough and they are the new working poor,’’ Mr Roberts said.

‘‘This grant will enable Wesley Mission to further assist these people who have come forward in desperate need of help.

‘‘We want to avoid the mistakes of the past by referring people on and having them go through this painful step twice.’’

Wesley Mission’s Reverend Dr Keith Garner praised the government for recognising the vital work his organisation does.

‘‘Our staff face the cold face of human need every day,’’ Reverend Dr Garner said.
