She won a best actress Oscar in 2007 for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, but Helen Mirren now has her eye on another world leader: Donald Trump.
"I'd be so funny as Trump. I love it. I've almost got the hair," she told the Hollywood Reporter about the prospect of playing the US president in a movie.
Mirren - who, at age 72, is a mere 13 months older than Trump - offered a somewhat kinder perspective to the US president than much of her Hollywood peers might afford, calling Trump a "fascinating character".
"[He's] a fantastic, sort of slightly Shakespearean character," she said. "He may have a Shakespearean fall, I don't know... He is an extraordinary character."
Hollywood heavyweights Alec Baldwin, Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep are among the stars who've previously portrayed the US president, largely in TV spoofs and mocking send-ups.
Mirren, though, says she's interested a more emotional approach.
"You look at the upbringing. You look at the schooling, the father, the mother," she said about how she'd tackle the character.
"I don't know much about Mr Trump's background, but if I was to play him I would definitely start there. You have to start with the child and the child is very much in Trump."
Mirren also discussed the puzzling feedback she received from Her Majesty following her Oscar-winning turn in The Queen.
"I met her afterwards, which was rather a loaded moment," she said.
"She never mentioned the film to me personally. She did introduce me to someone as: 'This is Helen Mirren, she played me in the film.'
"Apart from that she's never mentioned it. But she has invited me to various functions. So, I take that as some sort of a tick."
Mirren is soon to be seen in another real-life role, playing "cursed" pioneering arms company matriarch Sarah Winchester in horror story Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built from Australia's own Spierig Brothers.
