Sydney stadiums cost could build half an Olympics
The bill for the NSW government's plan to knock down and rebuild three Sydney sports stadiums is more than half what was spent constructing every venue needed to host the 2000 Olympics and supporting infrastructure.
A report handed to then NSW treasurer Michael Egan in March 2002 calculating the financial cost to the state of hosting the Olympics puts the total bill for "construction and capital works" at $3.02 billion. Read more
Former league player charged over cocaine ring
Former rugby league player Ben Darcy has been arrested and charged over a cocaine distribution ring.
Darcy, 28, was caught up in a large sweep on street-level cocaine dealers allegedly operating "dial-a-dealer" type services throughout the CBD and surrounding suburbs.
Operation Northrop, which was established by Redfern detectives in September, was investigating the distribution of drugs, mainly cocaine, in the inner-city.
Woman hospitalised after being attacked by her pet dingoes
An elderly woman remains in a serious condition in hospital after she was attacked by her pet dingoes in Sydney's south west.
The 78-year-old woman was trying to rescue her pug from her three other dogs, which police believed to be dingo crosses, when they attacked her. Read more
Man charged after alleged attempted abduction at Paddy's Markets
A man who allegedly attempted to abduct a young girl from Paddy's Markets in Sydney has been arrested after he was earlier seen taking an interest in two other children.
NSW Police say the 41-year-old man attended the popular markets in Haymarket on Sunday afternoon and was observed watching a small child. Read more on SMH
England fightback leaves Smith to ponder follow-on decision
Australia may have missed an opportunity to ram home their dominance over England's beleaguered batsmen after the revitalised tourists mounted a fightback with a swinging pink ball under lights on the third night of the second Test.
Australia had led by 215 runs on Monday after wrapping up England's first innings for 227 soon after the dinner break but captain Steve Smith chose to bat again rather than enforce the follow on. Read more
