THIS is the final edition of the Hill News.

But the farewell edition of this newspaper also marks the start of something new.

In early 2018 a fresh new publication will appear in its place to serve the audiences and advertisers of The Hills, Rouse Hill and surrounding areas.

Just as the communities of Sydney’s north-west have always been evolving, so too is the way we bring you the local news you trust and the community information you need.

The title of the vibrant new publication is still under wraps.

Here’s what we can tell you so far:

  • It will be be a proudly local community news and lifestyle magazine.
  • It will be weekly.
  • It will be glossy.

The magazine’s mission will be to keep local residents in touch with their community - covering people, places and events, entertainment options, lifestyle advice, education and fashion, plus motor and all things home and real estate.

Further details, including the title, format and distribution plans for the publication, will be announced in the lead-up to the launch in early 2018.

Keep an eye out on social media for more updates, including when and where around the area you can pick up your copy.

Published by Fairfax Media’s Australian Community Media (ACM) division, the new magazine will be produced from the ACM office at Bella Vista.

It will allow our loyal print advertisers to continue reaching the suburban audiences and household buyers of Sydney’s growing north-west suburbs.

The advertising sales teams of ACM will continue to offer an extensive suite of digital advertising and marketing products in the markets where the print strategy is changing.

The farewell editions of six free weekly newspapers in Sydney’s west and north-west are being published this week: The Blacktown Sun, Parramatta-Holroyd Sun, St Marys-Mt Druitt Star, Penrith City Gazette, Hills News and Rouse Hill Courier.

ACM will continue to publish 10 community newspaper titles across the greater Sydney region: the St George & Sutherland Shire Leader, Campbelltown Macarthur Advertiser, Camden-Narellan Advertiser, Wollondilly Advertiser, Blue Mountains Gazette, Hawkesbury Gazette, Hawkesbury Courier, Liverpool City Champion and Fairfield City Champion.
