Sydney commuters set to face transport headache as they return to work
Workers in Sydney's north shore and inner west can expect a longer commute when they return to work on Monday, with track work on trains and light rail taking place this week.
It will be a stark reminder to many of those travelling that the holidays are over, with many commuters forced to jump between buses, light rail and trains to travel to work in the next week.
Minister for Transport, Andrew Constance, said commuters would need to plan their trips carefully this week in light of the track work. Read more
Woman, 68, kidnapped and assaulted in Sydney's north
A man and woman will face court on Monday after they allegedly kidnapped and assaulted a woman in the early hours of Sunday.
Police said the woman was driven across the north of Sydney against her will before being dropped at a home in Mosman where she was able to alert police. Read more
Man shot in chest at Sydney pizza restaurant feared for his life
A man has been shot in the chest and hand at a pizza restaurant in western Sydney.
The 21-year-old was working at the Domino's restaurant in Wentworthville in the early hours of Sunday morning when he was confronted by an armed man, NSW Police say. Read more via SMH
How travellers are avoiding the high cost of catching the train to Sydney Airport
Travellers are getting creative to find cheaper, alternate ways to get to and from Sydney Airport and avoid being slugged the access fee for using the train at the domestic and international terminals.
The latest accounts filed with the corporate regulator for the private operator of the four stations on the nine-kilometre Airport Line tunnel show it paid the government almost $87 million in a "train service fee" in the year to June. Read more
